KraftCERT has chosen mnemonic
The Norwegian energy-sector has joined forces and started KraftCERT, a collaborative CERT with the aim to share and distribute knowledge, experience and services to their members. Since KraftCERT was established in January 2015, most of the large energy companies have signed up, with more to follow. KraftCERT has partnered with mnemonic to be able to deliver the most competent cyber defence.
To ensure power supply in Norway against ddos attacks, the power industry established KraftCERT earlier this year. Behind the initiative is Statnett, Hafslund Nett and Statkraft.
"KraftCERT will gather insight from all players in the industry to protect the power supply to all Norwegians. The goal for the cyberdefence is to be at least one step ahead of the attackers - and to succeed we need to have insight into their methods. mnemonic is an important partner for us in this work. We will provide knowledge of both threats and ongoing events, and share this information with the industry", says Margrete Raaum, general manager of KraftCERT
"Our company invest considerable resources in intelligence, research and development. We are in a unique position in this area and look forward to using our expertise and years of experience in the power industry to help secure critical infrastructure. It is exciting to be part of this work", says Tønnes Ingebrigtsen, CEO - mnemonic.
Many of the systems in the power industry is proprietary and requires very specific knowledge and technology.
"The goal for KraftCERT is to increase the resistance of the entire power industry by obtaining an overview of threats and use of intelligent solutions to neutralize the attack. We will work with the best and for the best possible cybersecurity, so that everyone can benefit from the vast amount of information we have compiled", says Raaum. With this MoU will KraftCERTs members have an opportunity to raise the security of their networks by adopting mnemonics services.
Hafslund Nett is among the companies that have now signed an agreement with mnemonic.
"For the years to come cybersecurity will be an important area for Hafslund Nett. Industry Cooperation in KraftCERT is a crucial part of this work, and the partnership agreement with mnemonic gives us access to important technology and expertise", says IT manager at Hafslund Nett Jon Andreas Pretorius.
